Registered Behavior Technician Duties and Responsibilities
A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) helps implement behavior therapy plans, mainly for individuals with autism. They work under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to teach new skills, reduce problem behaviors, and track client progress. Their tasks include:
Follow Treatment Plans
Implement the behavior plans created by a supervisor (BCBA).
Use specific techniques to help clients improve skills and reduce problem behaviors.
Track Progress
Record data about the client's behaviors and progress.
Monitor how well the treatment plan is working.
Teach New Skills
Help clients learn new skills, like communication, social, and daily living skills.
Observe Behavior
Watch and note the client's behavior during therapy sessions to see what works.
Support Individualized Plans
Follow the unique plan designed for each client, adjusting methods when needed.
Follow Ethical Standards
Keep client information private and work within professional guidelines.
Work with Supervisors
Meet regularly with the BCBA for supervision and training.
Discuss client progress and any challenges.
Give Feedback
Share updates on the client’s progress with the team and family members.
Keep Learning
Stay updated on new methods and continue to improve skills through training.
RBTs play a key role in helping clients make progress in behavior therapy.
