Getting Started

We are so glad that you are taking the steps to get your child ABA services.  Navigating through this process can be hard, but we are here to help. Follow these 5 steps to guide you as you begin this process of ABA.

STEP 1: CONTACT US

The first step in your journey is to simply reach out to us, by phone, email, or contact form. Our Parent Liaison will assist you with any questions you have about ABA therapy and getting started. She will ask you some questions to better get to know your child, the goals you have for your child, and help you determine if we are a good fit for you family. She will also guide you through the steps to getting started with ABA therapy.

Start by completing this information form.  Once completed, our Parent Liaison will reach out to you for more information.

STEP 2: INSURANCE VERIFICATION

Navigating your insurance benefits can be confusing, and we want to take the headache out of this process.

Insurance companies we are in network with are the following, Cigna, United, BCBS PPO and HMO, Magellan, Aetna, Tricare. We will verify your plan benefits for you and then go over the information we gathered from your provider with you. We will help you understand any out-of-pocket costs you may be responsible for (deductibles, co-pay, co-insurance, out-of-pocket max).  If you want to get a head start, you can complete the Insurance Verification Form by clicking the link below.

DIAGNOSIS

Receiving an autism diagnosis can be overwhelming, and you will probably have many questions about what happens next. Our Parent Liaison is excited to support you through the intake process in getting your child the necessary therapeutic services as quickly as possible.

If you do not have a diagnosis– Our team is here to walk you through where and how to get an official diagnosis and assist with any questions you may have. To authorize ABA therapy, most insurance providers will require a comprehensive diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder by a licensed medical professional, and a prescription for ABA therapy.

If you need help finding a doctor who can provide a diagnostic evaluation, please contact us!

If you have a diagnosis– If your child already has a diagnosis, we will work with you in gathering the necessary documentation for insurance authorization.

STEP 3: CENTER TOUR

Once your insurance benefits have been verified, we will set up a tour with you and our Center Manager. During this time, the Center Manager will show you around the center and ask some questions about your child, answer any questions you have.  You will learn more about our organization, our style of treatment, and what makes us different from other ABA providers. When you leave, you will have a better understanding of what treatment might look like, how ABA can help, and if it’s a good fit for your family.

STEP 4: ASSESSMENT & INSURANCE AUTHORIZATION

After the tour, we will confirm your placement on the waitlist. Once we know we have the availability to start your child, the Center Manager will reach out to you to schedule an assessment with one of our BCBA’S. During the assessment, you can expect our team of professionals to gather information about your child in the areas of behavior, play, social skills, etc. The assessment will be conducted in a naturalistic setting through play and using other therapy methods such as direct instruction. Assessments typically take two to three hours to complete.  After the assessment, our team will discuss what your child’s treatment plan may look like and walk you through the recommendations. A copy of this initial treatment plan can be sent to you upon completion. Once we have made sure the treatment plan and family goals align, we will submit it to the insurance carrier for authorization of therapy services.  This process can take up to 30 days.

STEP 5: STARTING SERVICES

Once we get approval from your insurance company to start therapy services the Center Manager will confirm an official start date. On your child’s first day you will meet the team of dedicated professionals at drop off that will begin working one-on-one with your child. Therapy is always supervised by a BCBA, and carried out by trained & Certified Registered Behavior Technicians. Our team continually records data and milestones met throughout the therapy sessions to show progress or to make adjustments to your child’s individualized treatment plan. Throughout the course of treatment, goals will be updated and shared with you during monthly parent meetings. During these meetings, you will be able to collaborate with your child’s team and develop goals together.

We recommend putting your child on multiple waitlists at different ABA centers. The agency or company you contact may have a long waiting list...that is normal. In the field of ABA, demand far exceeds the supply.
